Coxinha myths: the name does not tell the whole story

The name sounds like a little chicken thigh. The familiar shape points in the same direction. But reading the name is not enough to know what is inside the snack you are about to order.

“It is a fried chicken drumstick”

Our chicken coxinha is a filled snack with shredded chicken inside dough and a breaded coating. It is not a bone-in drumstick. That distinction helps a first-time guest understand what arrives on the plate.

“Every coxinha has the same filling”

Our menu disproves that assumption: Chicken Coxinha, Coxinha Catupiry and Beef Ribs Coxinha are distinct choices. The shape does not guarantee chicken, and creamy cheese is not part of every version. Pick by the item description.

“A mini order is the same as a large coxinha order”

Mini salgados and full-size snacks are separate formats. Confirm the mix and quantity when ordering for a party. The menu’s six-piece mini mix does not mean that all six pieces are coxinhas or that every party assortment is identical.

“A good story proves where it was invented”

Stories about the invention of popular food circulate in different versions. A retold anecdote is not, by itself, proof of a date or inventor. We keep our ordering guide focused on the fillings we actually offer; our separate dish-history page explores the cultural story.
